WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A DIETITIAN AND A NUTRITIONIST?
In Australia all dietitians are nutritionists however nutritionists without a dietetics qualification cannot take on the expert role of a dietitian. A Dietitian (with a Dietitians Association of Australia accreditation) is qualified to provide medical nutrition therapy or clinical nutrition assessments. Whereas, nutritionists can only help people by providing information and advice about healthy food and lifestyle choices.
WHAT IS INCLUDED IN AN INITIAL CONSULTATION?
A typical dietetics consultation follows a Nutrition Care Plan, which includes assessment, diagnosis, intervention and monitoring and evaluation steps. During the intervention phase of the consultation, we offer expert nutrition and dietary advice to help patients manage health conditions and achieve their dietary and lifestyle-related goals.
